Check Out My
Town!
Bergen County is a county that has so much to
offer just about everyone. Its suburban setting has many beautiful acres of
parklands and recreational areas that are equal to the finest in the country.
Also, its proximity to New York City gives residents access to one of the most
culturally exciting cities in the world.
Bergen County offers everything from an
excellent educational system to wonderful shopping opportunities! Live
theater is abundant in the county as well as private and public golf courses
and tennis courts. Couple this with the natural beauty and peacefulness of the
towns and you have a dream place to call home!
Englewood Cliffs
Situated above the Palisades north of Fort Lee,
Englewood Cliffs is a town characterized by expensive homes and beautifully
groomed corporate headquarters. Engelwood Cliffs has excellent access to New
York City by bus and car.
Tenafly
Tenafly was originally settled by the Dutch in
the 1800s and is one of the most attractive towns in Bergen County with
excellent schools, small-town charm, and an active business area that features
an historical railroad station. Houses range from old Victorians to
contemporary. Recreational opportunities abound through the Tenafly Nature
Center, The Jewish Community Center, which is one of the largest in Bergen
County, the Knickerbocker Country Club, which features golf, tennis and a
swimming pool, and elsewhere.
Cresskill
Known for its beautiful tree-lined streets and
small-town charm, Cresskill is a borough where many residents commute to
New York for work. There is direct bus service to New York and points in South
Jersey. Once a farming community, Cresskill experienced a development boom
after World War II and now has a strong sense of community.
Fort Lee
Just five minutes from New York City, Fort Lee
is the site of the majestic George Washington Bridge. It is home to the
thousands of people who work in Manhattan and is known for high-rise
condominiums and cooperative apartments. However, there is also a variety of
choices, from garden apartments to luxury dwellings, many with breath-taking
views. Fort Lee was home to many early motion picture companies.
Alpine
Marked by expensive houses set on large tracts,
Alpine attracts many successful professionals. But Alpine's homes are
suited for both the wealthy and the middleclass, and education is quite valued
and advanced here.
Despite its proximity to New York City, its
mountaintop setting gives it the atmosphere of a small hamlet and the
community has a very intimate quality. Alpine maintains tight control over
development and industry has been restricted so that much of the borough's land
is in parks and conservation areas.
